The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) raised CI$15,500, from its “Around the Town 4 x 1 Team Relay” on Sunday 25th June. The race was part of a number of planned events to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the OAG. The proceeds from the event will be shared equally among the Cayman Islands Cancer Society and LOUD Silent Voices.

Sue Winspear, Auditor General, says “This was a successful event, as it attracted a whopping 87 teams which resulted in a total of 348 runners and walkers. The OAG would like to thank all sponsors and volunteers for their support. I want to especially thank my staff and specifically the organizing team in OAG for all their hard work. The event would not have been a success without all of their contributions.”

The event was sponsored by Grant Thornton, Deloitte & Touche, Baker Tilly, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Royal Bank of Canada (Cayman) Ltd, Chris Johnson, The Cake Studio, Green Machine (Smoothie Café), David Goddard (Winner’s Circle & Cayman Shoe Shop), Massive Equipment Rental & Sales Ltd, Crown Rentals and Kirk Market. Other businesses provided prizes for the raffle and race winners.

Grant Thornton, a major sponsor, said "We are delighted to cheer on our relay team and to support further with a US$5,000 donation towards their chosen charities, LOUD Silent Voices and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society," Dara Keogh, Managing Partner, continued "A big thank you to all participants, organizers, and volunteers for coordinating a great day in aid of two worthy organizations."

The OAG would like to recognize the great contributions of its volunteers and supporters. These include the Cayman Islands Cadet Corp, Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, Speed Athletics Track Club, Cayman Islands Red Cross, Filipino Community (GOLD), Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc. (PGBI – Turtle), Philippine Guardians Brotherhood Inc. Cayman Island, Movers for Life, Cayman Islands Postal Service, IRG Cayman, Donna Bush (Government Information Services) and Government’s Facilities Management and Public Works Departments, and the National Roads Authority.

Overall, there were 66 medals and one trophy presented to teams and individuals who were placed first to third in the various categories. The OAG would like to congratulate all participants and winners.
